my favorite juicing recipes

My husband and I have talked about getting serious about juicing for a while. We have loved breakfast smoothies for years, and I have long since kept the freezers stocked with berries, peaches, apricots, plums, orange juice concentrate. This year, 2012, we have stopped blending smoothies in favor of our newest food hobby. Juice!

The biggest reason for this change is health, not taste or preference. It is definitely yummy, but after having done a lot of research and seen several documentaries, we were convinced that we could get more nutrition density through the micro nutrients that juice has to offer -- all the goodness juiced out in an easily absorbed form. Did you know that freshly made juice enters the blood stream almost as quickly as alcohol? This results in greater efficiency in the body, leaving more energy available for self-healing and fat burning. In particular, the Gerson Cure, an alternative method for the cure of several cancers as well as diabetes and other diseases, was greatly influential to our decision.

We have a lot to learn, but here are a few of our favorite juices.

Red:
1 beet
1 pint strawberries
1 large apple
optional extra of 3 rolled leaves chard, rolled spinach

Orange:
2 carrots to 1 orange
optional extra of 1/4 to 1/2 pineapple

Morning blend:
2 carrots
1 large apple
optional extras of 1 knob ginger root, 3 rolled leaves chard, 2 stalks celery

Sweet Green:
2 Granny Smith green apples to 1 pear
